Surviving Bereavement
On 28th June 2004, Tracey and her son’s lives were turned upside down when her husband Tony, died suddenly whilst playing golf for the Law Society in Spain. At the time Anthony was 15 and Oliver just 7 years old.
Surviving Bereavement was founded by Tracey McAtamney to provide compassionate support for people grieving the loss of a loved one.
As a community initiative, we run bereavement cafés funded through the generosity of sponsors, creating safe, welcoming spaces where people can come together to talk, listen, and simply be heard.
Grief can be overwhelming, isolating, and deeply lonely. No one should have to face it alone. Our cafés offer understanding, friendship, and a sense of belonging, helping people rebuild confidence, make new connections, and take small steps towards hope and healing.
Together, we aim to bring comfort, companionship, and, when the time is right, a little sunshine and a few more smiles back into people's lives.
Surviving Bereavement signposts not only emotional support but also legal and financial. It provides pop-up bereavement cafés across Warwickshire and the West Midlands, presentations on bereavement in the workplace, and free memory boxes for children and young adults.

With thanks to our supporters
The cafés are funded through the generosity of sponsors, and we are grateful to Alsters Kelley Solicitors and Jamieson Christie Wealth Management for their support.
Surviving Bereavement is not a charity. We raise funds to provide the free memory boxes and to keep the cafés free for everyone who comes.
There is no wrong time to get in touch
Whether it is a café, a presentation for your workplace, you probably do not even know what you need yet.
